Recent research from naturalistic data examining the relationship between eye glances and crashes suggests that existing criteria used to measure the distraction potential of in-vehicle tasks should be revisited. This research from MIT AgeLab and Touchstone Evaluations also has implications for designing HMI for handover of control for autonomous vehicles.
