Report Summary:

Automotive concepts were quite prominent at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.  Autonomous driving concepts were prolific throughout, though few had clear focus on user-centric design.  Increased access to connected services through the car is becoming a given.  Compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is growing, though long-term viability remains an open question.  The car’s place in the internet of things is coming into clearer focus, and many automakers described practical use cases for contextually aware systems.  Notable novel HMI included shape-shifting touchpads and touchscreen with haptic feedback, both of which have practical usefulness for consumers.
