Report Summary:

Automotive OEMs and suppliers had a massive presence at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Impressive concepts for autonomous cars were demonstrated, but many obstacles for a positive and widespread user experience remain. Semi-autonomous features and ADAS were well-represented. In a huge development on mobile device connectivity, most OEMs are now embracing and rushing to integrate alternative infotainment UI such as CarPlay and Android Auto. Popular new HMI included gesture recognition and eye tracking, but real-world implementation for either will prove challenging. Many vendors demonstrated integration of wearable technology, however no compelling use cases were presented.
