Report Summary:

This report summarizes technological advances affecting the automotive user experience which were introduced at the 2019 edition of CES.

Robo-taxi concepts largely disappeared from CES, replaced by advanced safety features and low-speed automated shuttles or pods. Automakers are responding to numerous challenges in the space, but this also portends new UX challenges.  And although stakeholders were excited to exhibit their leveraging of advanced machine learning and voice assistants, the lack of attention to consumer privacy protections indicates a tone-deaf culture that could very soon reap negative reactions.

User experience related advances in on-board HMI and in-car marketplaces also featured prominently at this year’s CES.
