Strategy Analytics (SA) undertook a survey of car owners in the US, China, and Western Europe (4,990 car owners in total), and for those driving a vehicle with automatic transmission (3,501 car owners), SA took a deep dive into their satisfaction with the different aspects of their gear shift.

The sample produced statistically valid results for automatic transmissions using five different types of gear shifters: stick, joystick, rotary, stalk and buttons.
