Report Summary:

The car subscription business model dates back to at least 2014, when Cox Automotive launched Flexdrive and Clutch Technologies opened its Clutch Atlanta subscription service. At about the same time, a similar service became established in the Netherlands. Since then, the number of providers — both OEM and third-party — that have launched either pilots or full services has grown rapidly, in the U.S. and abroad. This report covers this growth and the implications of these programs on the broader auto industry.
