New high resolution LiDARs are beginning to enter the market to support semi-autonomous driving applications.  But Strategy Analytics believes that solid state sensor designs will supersede these mechanical-scanning LiDARs in the near future.  By deploying multiple sensors, their compact size, greater reliability and cost effectiveness, solid state LiDARs will be better able to support the fully-autonomous vehicles that could enter the market as early as the mid-2020s.
