Summary

While the US economy continues to recover, the sovereign debt crisis has recently hurt vehicle sales in Europe. Despite this setback, demand for more sensor-rich features continues to grow, particularly in the emerging markets, as total sensor demand grew in 2011 by 8.4% in dollar terms. Strategy Analytics forecasts that demand for automotive sensors will grow at 9.6% CAAGR between 2011 and 2016, rising from $15.6 billion to $24.6 billion. This automotive sensor forecast identifies application growth opportunities and detailed demand trends for sensors in OEM factory fitted automotive electronic systems in North America, Japan, Europe, Russia, South Korea, Brazil, China, Thailand and Rest-of-World (ROW) vehicle production.
