Summary

The seventy-five European Broadband Service Providers (BSPs) tracked by Strategy Analytics added 1.4 million net new subscribers in the first quarter of 2012, a 34% decline in net adds year-over-year, and a continuation of the of the plateauing trend of Broadband subscribers across Europe. Net adds have been categorically lower for the past three quarters across Europe as penetration rises in many countries. Tracked DSL net adds trended higher than Q4’11 with surveyed DSL providers adding 850,000 new subscribers during the quarter. Net adds for the Cableco’s slid for the third consecutive quarter with Cable operators adding a tracked 417,000 subscribers while Fiber operators added a tracked 17,000 subscribers during the quarter which makes for three consecutive quarters of net adds improvement for fiber providers. This interactive database summarizes quarterly subscriber growth trends for over 75 major broadband service providers (BSPs) operating across Europe. In addition to tracking subscribers, market shares and selected financial metrics, the report also provides operator-level subscriber forecasts for 2012. The report also contains a flat file of all data, allowing clients to create customized pivot tables. SPS clients can use this database to analyze subscriber growth from Q1 2008 to Q1 2012 for each company, as well as to sort subscriber data by country and access platform.
