Summary

Military applications will continue to grow and drive fundamental development of semiconductor technologies such as GaN and this was demonstrated by Cree, Nitronex, NXP, RFMD, TriQuint and UMS during Strategy Analytics breakfast session held during IMS 2012 as well through the numerous product announcements made at the show which included Toshiba’s new X-band GaN hybrid IC (HIC) targeted at TRMs used in AESA and PESA radar applications. Eurosatory was also held in June allowing defense companies to showcase new products and capabilities with a focus on the land and air domains with Netline to launch a new, extremely small, lightweight, accurate jammers and Elbit Systems Ltd launching the VWS radar.
