The new year saw the arrival of 75 shiny new handsets with impressive specs. Smartphones made up almost 2/3 of new handset announcements. With the increase in smartphone numbers there is an appreciated up scaling in display size, camera resolution, dual core processor penetration, and traction for the Super AMOLED touchscreens. There was a reduction in handset thickness, and QWERTY keyboards were few and far between. Motorola announced the RAZR MAXX with a 2G talk time of 21.5 hours. Samsung had a flurry of activity, releasing specs on 16 new handsets (11 of which are in the Galaxy Series), and the HTC Titan II has the first 16MP camera in a smartphone.
