FT ‘s new ‘Conquests’ initiative is intended to position it for renewal, in its key France market and in International markets. Therefore it may not be ‘business as usual’ from FT. FT’s dominance in France across multiple screens and technologies will offer an opportunity for Apps and OS to be developed which function well across the different media – FT in France could create a powerful testing ground for such new, converged approaches. In Africa, its new ‘International Development’ strategy could impact consumer and SOHO segments. Yet FT’s greatest impact will affect Operators, on a number of fronts. First is its ‘Everything Everywhere’ joint venture in the UK with DT. Secondly, FT is one of the most advanced Operators in terms of multi-screen, multi-access, content-supported convergence. Thirdly, FT has a strong portfolio across Africa, and is strategically focusing on growth potential and growth targets in this region. Finally, FT has sharpened its strategic priorities towards ‘execution’ and away from the earlier, more generic ‘cashflow’ objective.
