Summary

The dominance of the native application has barely been questioned since the launch of Apple’s app store in 2007. Since that time every other platform has launched its own application development platforms, sets of APIs, and channel for the distribution of applications. However, in recent months the question has arisen around when the native application will cede its dominance to the standards based HTML5. This insight examines the dynamics shaping this future market and the likely future mix of apps against HTML5 distribution.
