During July 2009 a total of 109 new handsets were announced globally by 27 vendors, including Samsung’s new Android-based GT-i7500L. For the 53 new handsets where detailed specifications were available, USB support hit a new high of 85% penetration, memory card slot penetration reached 87% and average talk time rose to 343 minutes. Nine of the 53 new models featured an 800x480 pixel resolution display and six variations of Samsung models contained an OLED main display. HSDPA support took a nosedive to 21%, while HSUPA penetration actually rose to 13%.
