The late 1990’s success of introducing competition in Morocco’s telecommunication sector, which saw more than doubling the telecom operator’s turnover between 2000 and 2005, gained momentum this year and will have more fuel to burn in 2007. Recent development in this sector include the introduction of competition in the fixed-line market in mid 2006 and the offering of 3G licences to Meditel, Maroc Telecom and to a third cellular operator during 2007.
